What do you think of Open Carry in the State of Texas?
I am hearing more and more attention paid to the open carry debate in the media. By and large the general negative thrust of what the media are saying is this.
1. More people carrying guns will result in an “Old West Mentality” with gun battles erupting from every minor disagreement.
2. Concealed Carry is a deterrent to crime in that the criminals have to guess whether or not you are carrying a gun.
3. Openly carrying a gun will make you a target for criminals.
4. They don’t want stupid people carrying guns.
To confront the first point head on we have the example of many other States in our great Nation that permit open carry of a firearm and we do not see that they have degenerated into a lawless society populated by steely eyed gunmen who are wide in the shoulders and narrow in the hips, who stand six foot tall in their sock feet, when they had socks that is. But I digress into a cheesy western novel, on to the next point.
Your average criminal doesn't even try to “guess” if you have a gun. Your average criminal is looking for someone who is distracted or unaware of their surroundings. If you look like an easy target then you are a target. If you seem somewhat alert and on guard the criminal will pass you by and pick an easier target. Having a concealed weapon does not in itself deter an attack. What deters a criminal is the fact that if you have gone to the trouble of legally carrying a firearm you probably have put some thought into being aware and alert to your surroundings. In effect you no longer look like an easy target.
The third objection gives common criminals a lot of credit they don’t deserve. If carrying a gun made you a target for criminals then there would be some evidence of attacks on person who are known to be armed. This just doesn’t happen. Think of a gun show, lots of people with guns walking to and from their vehicles, yet there are almost no attacks? Police officers work the streets every day but the instances of them being attacked for the purpose of disarming them are relatively rare.
You know, that last one, I don’t really relish stupid people carrying guns either. Unfortunately our society has not yet supported my plan to eradicate stupidity by letting ME choose who gets it. On a more serious note, we cannot legislate against the majority just because of a few idiots. The precedent shows that the vast majority of folks who decide to carry a firearm will act in a responsible manner. Yes, there will be some dummies that do stupid stuff with their guns but we have the means to deal with that. Besides, we let stupid people drive cars don’t we? If you do something stupid with a car we call it an “accident”. If you do something stupid with a gun we call it a crime and we put you in jail.
The last thing I have heard from people who are plainly afraid of guns and don’t want anything to do with them is this. “I live in a “good” area, I don’t go to “bad” places after dark, I lock my doors at home and in my car when I drive, I feel safe, I have an alarm, the police are there to protect me from harm, WE DON’T NEED ANY MORE OF THOSE SCARY GUNS.
These people are not willing to accept that their comfortable lives might not be so safe and secure. The statistics show that you will most likely know the person who commits a violent crime against you. You will most likely be at home or close to it in your “good” neighborhood. You will most likely have family members present or near by when it happens. And when it does happen you will have your mistaken belief in safety and security forcibly torn from you in the face of a brutal and harsh reality.
I have talked to some broken, violated and emotionally destroyed people who could do nothing but hope that their attacker would have mercy on them. They can no longer afford to believe that something else will protect them.
On the other hand I have talked to people who have fought back and won. These people are usually exhilarated to be alive and proud of their success in defending themselves or their family. These people do not suffer the same as the ones who could do nothing.
If the legislature can make it a little easier for good folks to protect themselves from harm I am all for it.

I received your letter expressing support for the "National Capitol Security and Safety Act" (H.R. 6842). I want you to know that I appreciate hearing from you on such an important topic. I welcome the opportunity to respond.
Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) introduced H.R. 6842, which would require the District to conform its laws to the Supreme Court's ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller. During consideration of the bill, Representative Travis Childers (D-MS) attached an amendment that would repeal most of the existing District of Columbia gun laws. Among other things, the bill would repeal D.C.'s ban on semi-automatic weapons, including military-style assault weapons and it would repeal the Federal law prohibiting District residents from traveling to other states to buy handguns. It would also prohibit D.C. from enacting common sense gun laws, like requiring safe storage of guns in homes with small children. And it repeals gun registration requirements, making it more difficult for police to trace guns used in crimes. On September 17, 2008, the amended bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 266-152.
I believe this legislation is reckless and irresponsible - and will lead to more weapons and violence on the streets of our nation's capital. As a former Mayor of San Francisco, I have seen firsthand what happens when guns fall into the hands of criminals, juveniles, and the mentally ill. I believe that the legislation repealing Federal and District gun laws would place the families of the District of Columbia in great jeopardy.
Currently H.R. 6842 is not expected to be called up for a vote in the Senate. Please know that while this may be an issue on which we disagree, it is helpful to hear the views of Californians. I will keep your thoughts in mind as the gun control debate continues.

Mrs. K. and I went to Big Bear for our anniversary over the weekend. We ate lots of food and did lots of lounging around. Yesterday morning we got packed up early and went out to breakfast on the way down the mountain. We ate ate at Grizzly Manor Cafe...the best g--damned breakfast this side of....the Atlantic Ocean. The staff, one dude with a kick ass mustache and chest tats, was great. Friendly and willing to getcha whatever you needed. The coffee was outstanding. I got the two of the best, biggest, most wonderful buttermilk pancakes with two eggs and two slices of the most succulent ass-kicking bacon ever. Oh damn, I wish I would have taken a picture. The wife got something similar but smaller...just one steering wheel sized pancake....and I'm talking about the steering wheel in a 65 Caddy or a 65 Jeep Wagoneer. But, she got hash browns that we split....OH BOY, they were UNREAL~!!! This is good, down home, redneck, tasty two times food. Two times because I burped up a little hashy goodness and it was just as good as when I ate it... ;)

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama must demonstrate executive experience, but he remains strangely silent about his eight years (1994-2002) as a director of the Joyce Foundation, a billion dollar tax-exempt organization. He has one obvious reason: during his time as director, Joyce Foundation spent millions creating and supporting anti-gun organizations.
There is another, less known, reason.
During Obama’s tenure, the Joyce Foundation board planned and implemented a program targeting the Supreme Court. The work began five years into Obama’s directorship, when the Foundation had experience in turning its millions into anti-gun “grassroots” organizations, but none at converting cash into legal scholarship.
The plan’s objective was bold: the judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment.
Joyce’s directors found a vulnerable point. When judges cannot rely upon past decisions, they sometimes turn to law review articles. Law reviews are impartial, and famed for meticulous cite-checking. They are also produced on a shoestring. Authors of articles receive no compensation; editors are law students who work for a tiny stipend.
In 1999, midway through Obama’s tenure, the Joyce board voted to grant the Chicago-Kent Law Review $84,000, a staggering sum by law review standards. The Review promptly published an issue in which all articles attacked the individual right view of the Second Amendment.
In a breach of law review custom, Chicago-Kent let an “outsider” serve as editor; he was Carl Bogus, a faculty member of a different law school. Bogus had a unique distinction: he had been a director of Handgun Control Inc. (today’s Brady Campaign), and was on the advisory board of the Joyce-funded Violence Policy Center.
Bogus solicited only articles hostile to the individual right view of the Second Amendment, offering authors $5,000 each. But word leaked out, and Prof. Randy Barnett of Boston University volunteered to write in defense of the individual right to arms. Bogus refused to allow him to write for the review, later explaining that “sometimes a more balanced debate is best served by an unbalanced symposium.” Prof. James Lindgren, a former Chicago-Kent faculty member, remembers that when Barnett sought an explanation he “was given conflicting reasons, but the opposition of the Joyce Foundation was one that surfaced at some time.” Joyce had bought a veto power over the review’s content.Joyce Foundation apparently believed it held this power over the entire university. Glenn Reynolds later recalled that when he and two other professors were scheduled to discuss the Second Amendment on campus, Joyce’s staffers “objected strenuously” to their being allowed to speak, protesting that Joyce Foundation was being cheated by an “‘agenda of balance’ that was inconsistent with the Symposium’s purpose.” Joyce next bought up an issue of Fordham Law Review.
The plan worked smoothly. One court, in the course of ruling that there was no individual right to arms, cited the Chicago-Kent articles eight times. Then, in 2001, a federal Court of Appeals in Texas determined that the Second Amendment was an individual right.
The Joyce Foundation board (which still included Obama) responded by expanding its attack on the Second Amendment. Its next move came when Ohio State University announced it was establishing the “Second Amendment Research Center” as a thinktank headed by anti-individual-right historian Saul Cornell. Joyce put up no less than $400,000 to bankroll its creation. The grant was awarded at the board’s December 2002 meeting, Obama’s last function as a Joyce director. In reporting the grant, the OSU magazine Making History made clear that the purpose was to influence a future Supreme Court case:
“The effort is timely: a series of test cases - based on a new wave of scholarship, a recent decision by a federal Court of Appeals in Texas, and a revised Justice Department policy-are working their way through the courts. The litigants challenge the courts’ traditional reading of the Second Amendment as a protection of the states’ right to organize militia, asserting that the Amendment confers a much broader right for individuals to own guns. The United States Supreme Court is likely to resolve the debate within the next three to five years.”

The Center proceeded to generate articles denying the individual right to arms. The OSU connection also gave Joyce an academic money laundry. When it decided to buy an issue of the Stanford Law and Policy Review, it had a cover. Joyce handed OSU $125,000 for that purpose; all the law review editors knew was that OSU’s Foundation granted them that breathtaking sum, and a helpful Prof. Cornell volunteered to organize the issue. (The review was later sufficiently embarassed to publish an open letter on the affair).
The Joyce directorate’s plan almost succeeded. The individual rights view won out in the Heller Supreme Court appeal, but only by 5-4. The four dissenters were persuaded in part by Joyce-funded writings, down to relying on an article which misled them on critical historical documents.
Having lost that fight, Obama now claims he always held the individual rights view of the Second Amendment, and that he “respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms.” But as a Joyce director, Obama was involved in a wealthy foundation’s attempt to manipulate the Supreme Court, buy legal scholarship, and obliterate the individual right to arms.
Voters who value the Constitution should ask whether someone who was party to that plan should be nominating future Supreme Court justices.
Let's have some fun enumerating and identifying at least some of the numerous lies Barack Obama told during Wednesday's night's 3rd and final Presidential debate.
1. Barack denied beginning his campaign for the Illinois Senate in the living room of terrorist Bill Ayers. That is a lie. The record from all of those who were there say it is true. Not only that but Ayers helped bankroll Obama's campaigns for the Illinois legislature, along with convicted felon Tony Rezko.
2. Barack said that Bill Ayers is 'a university professor in Chicago,' insinuating that he has moved beyond his terrorist past. That is a lie. The truth is that Bill Ayers never repudiated his bombing of the Pentagon, Congress, and several other structures during the 60s, and in 2001 he stated 'he wished he had done more.' Ayers is nothing more than an extremist Leftwing radical to this very day.
3. Barack stated that the Annenberg Foundation, which funded Ayers' radical Leftwing educational program, is a mainstream organization made up of many Republicans. And this legitimizes their funding for Ayers how? Ayers' educational program, which Obama worked for, is not about education but about political extremism and raising up a generation of Leftwing radicals. The 'education' moniker is nothing but a front for the organization's subversive political goals.
4. Barack has identified anyone making $250,000 as 'rich,' including small business owners who include their companies' profits together with any compensation they may have received as a sub-chapter 'S' corporation or an 'LLC.' That is a lie. These small business owners are not rich. They do provide jobs, however. And Barack wants to raise their taxes at a troublesome time in the economy. This is part of his 'Robin Hood' approach to steal from others to give money to the poor. 'Plumber Joe' is a good example. Barack brushed aside his complaints about taxes and told him he wanted to 'spread the wealth around.' Joe is not wealthy, Barack.
5, Barack claims pro-life and pro-abortion folk can 'come together and find common ground.' That is a lie. It is impossible for those who value human life to find common ground with someone who supports infanticide. Barack is one of the most rabid pro-abortion advocates in the country, and he supported a bill that would remove ANY and ALL restrictions on any type of abortion at any time during the pregnancy. THIS is unconscionable.
6. Barack stated he voted to withhold medical care from babies who survive abortion attempts because Illinois already had such a law on the books. That is patently FALSE. The issue came up as a result of a specific case where a doctor botched an abortion and the staff took the baby, which was still alive, put it in a dark closet, and denied water and food and medical care to the infant. The proposed law would have prevented that atrocity. Barack voted against preventing such atrocities.
7. Barack says repeatedly he wants a tax cut for 95% of Americans. That is a lie. He wants the Bush tax cuts to expire, which will immediately give Americans the largest single tax increase in U.S. history. You can't claim you are for tax cuts if you want the Bush tax cuts to expire. That means ALL of us will pay higher taxes.
8. Barack blames Republicans for the economic troubles in the housing industry. That is a lie. Look no further than the Democratic Congress and Democrats such as Chris Dodd, Charles Rangel, and Barney Frank, and you will find who is to blame. Even Barack had cozy deals with Fannie and Freddie's CEOs, and it was Fannie and Freddie that started this whole mess. Plus, don't forget the Democrats have controlled Congress for 2 years, not Republicans.
9. Barack lied about the McCain record in Congress and even his own non-record. He blames McCain for voting for budgets submitted by the President, although they had been tweaked by Congress, when a majority of both Parties in Congress voted for them or else they would not have passed. But then, Barack isn't really in a position to know what happens in Congress. He has been out campaigning for President during the entirety of his short, 2-year Senate career.
10. Barack lied about the McCain healthcare plan leading to employers dropping workers from coverage. In fact, BARACK's centralized government-controlled healthcare plan is a sure-fire way to motivate employers to drop their employees from coverage. They will simply conclude that since government is going to do it, then why should they?
And then, it's hello Canada and Great Britain with their disastrous national healthcare plans. You had better hope you stay VERY healthy if Barack Obama is elected President.
Thus, the debate on Wednesday night did nothing but confirm that Barack can calmly and reassuringly look you in the eye and tell one lie after another like a smooth-talking used car salesman on a back lot in the south side of Chicago.
Not only has ACORN been shown to be a sham, engaging in illegal practices to get out the vote for Obama under the guise of merely 'registering the poor to vote,' but today we learned that the Secretary of State in Ohio has admitted to hiding over 200,000 fraudulent voter registrations from election officials.
The controversial and rabidly partisan Secretary, Jennifer Brunner, admitted that she has been concealing 200,000 questionable registrations from the local election boards.
Brunner is the one who implemented the highly controversial plan for 'same-day early registration and voting' in Ohio a couple of weeks ago--a system so full of holes that an individual could potentially register and vote in every single county in the state without election officials having the means to check for such massive voter fraud.
The latest news concerning Brunner is yet another stunning and frightening example of just how questionable Election '08 has become.
And the Brunner scandal isn't the only problem. Reports are coming in from all across the nation concerning such voter fraud.
As for ACORN's role in this, an organization that accepts multi-thousands of dollars from Barack Obama and his campaign is clearly NOT a 'neutral, bipartisan voter registration organization,' particularly in light of the fact that they have been caught bribing individuals to register numerous times so that they can vote for Obama under dozens of names, registering individuals under fictitious names and the names of the deceased, and offering to 'provide transportation to the underprivileged so that they can go and vote for Obama.'
And this is not to mention the number of convicted felons who are disqualified from voting yet are being added to voter registration rolls anyway--illegally.
The entire scenario reminds one of the shenanigans that occur in third world Communist dictatorships that claim they are holding 'democratic elections' but rig those elections so that only the ruling party wins.
Before he is even elected Chairman Ba-O is already presiding over the most scandalous and corrupt campaign in U.S. history, which is one of the many reasons why his Presidency, if you can call it that, will be illegitimate, assuming he actually gets elected.
As I have stated before, Obama will NEVER be 'my President' no matter what the election results show in November. Nobody who subverts the Constitution to support the banning of Second Amendment rights, First Amendment rights, and infanticide will ever be my President.
The most appropriate title we can give him is that of Mao Tse Tung of China, the Communist who took over the country in 1948. They called him 'Chairman Mao.' Now we have our 'Chairman Ba-O.'

As I contemplated the possibility that the Obama bandwagon could well steam-roll over all of us who cherish liberty, the thought occurred to me that this could be the culmination of years of hard work by those who have a vested interest in destroying America.
The 60s generation gave us school busing, lower standards in schools, safeguarding 'self-esteem' at all costs even if it means giving passing grades to those who can't read, and of course, Leftwing radicalism that called America evil and Communism/Socialism good.
Some among that generation never gave up their vision for a different kind of America where the Constitution is considered a relic of the past and where government is all-powerful.
After all, the Constitution was written by 'a bunch of old men who believed in slavery,' as Whoopie Goldberg stated during an interview with John McCain some time ago on that joke of a TV program, 'The View.'
This, of course, is meant to silence all defense of the Constitution out of the fear one may be tagged as a racist.
Whoopie, of course, failed to mention that this very Constitution FREED slaves. One cannot hold people who lived in the 18th century to 21st century concepts. But the principles espoused by those 'old men' in the 1700s led to slavery being outlawed in the 1800s. The principles themselves were so forward-looking that even the Founders didn't know all of the ways in which liberty could express itself.
In addition, many products of our public school system today seem to think that mass murderers like Che Guevara, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro, and Chairman Mao are pretty cool guys. Communism and Socialism are accepted as good ideas. Nevermind that in each case where these ideologies gain a foothold, citizens are robbed of their rights and multi-millions are murdered by their own government.
Do most students in America today know this?
Even John Edwards, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama didn't know that the Second Amendment is a right, not a privilege. And each of these are lawyers!
By the way, why is it that not a single reporter in the media has asked Barack Obama why his campaign offices across the country have pictures of Cuban mass murderer Che Guevara hanging all over the walls? Guevara, of course, was one of Fidel Castro's hatchet men when he first came to power in Cuba, making sure the opposition was minimized by the systematic slaughter of ordinary citizens.
But of course, Fidel Castro is considered a pretty good guy by Obama supporters as well.
Yet the Obama-worshippers in the mainstream media think we who oppose Obama are an 'angry mob!'
This must be la-la land. What's good is called bad, and what's bad is called good.
Therefore, it is no wonder that in 2008 a large number of Americans are going to march into the polls like zombies and pull the lever for a radical, anti-American, neo-Communist who believes in infanticide and outlawing handguns in this country.
The social engineers of the 1960s planned this out from the beginning. You see, in order for revolution to occur, you don't need guns or violence. All you need is to take over the school system, dumb down the students by lowering standards, withhold information about the Constitution and the men who wrote it, brainwash them in the ways of Socialism/Communism, until one day in the future you have an entire generation of Americans who think it's absolutely splendid that a person with an ideology like Barack Obama runs for President.
That one day in the future is now.

Surprisingly, Obama accept their invitation. “You know what, I really really like ice cream, and I would love to have some ice cream with anyone who loves children…Who knows maybe I can swing their endorsement my way.” After being told by his staff why NAMBLA really really loves children, Obama reneged on the ice cream date adding, “I really really hate the First Amendment sometimes, I really really do.”
Of course he hates the 1st amendment...when it doesn't work in his favor...just like the rest of the Bill of Rights.

Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.
The events of the past week are no exception.
The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich. It's bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters."
That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we're being told it's unavoidable.
The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences - predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics - are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!
• The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700 billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time. That means $700 billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.
• Financial institutions are "designated as financial agents of the Government." This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.
• Then there's this: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be subject to no one in the process.
There goes your country.
Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this "sadly necessary." Sad, yes. Necessary? Don't make me laugh.
Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people. The two major party candidates for president themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of this kind - another example of the big choice we're supposedly presented with this November: yes or yes. Now, with a backlash brewing, they're not quite sure what their views are. A sad display, really.
Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow. With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.
The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom? Do we care about responsibility and accountability? Do we care that our government and media have been bought and paid for? Do we care that average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government? Do we care?
When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and the media?
Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are, and what kind of country we shall be.
My wife and I pay our mortgage. We can afford it for now. But, we're paying interest only. We've put about $70K into Indy Mac FEDERAL's pocket. Our home value is down about 50%. I just called Indy Mac FEDERAL to see if they'd help me. They said, "NO way bud, you can afford your mortgage". I asked why, when we're paying to support them in tax dollars on the back and interest on the front, they won't help us prevent a problem by calling up our ARM now, or lowering our principal, or SOMETHING.
So, since the banks are helping out people who don't pay their mortgages....should we just stop paying?
WHAT BENEFIT IS IT TO THE PEOPLE TO BAILOUT THESE COMPANIES????
Is the government in business to make profit? If not, then why do we have to pay interest on our loans now that they're owned by the federal government? Shouldn't the loans be at prime rate?

This last Saturday found my Dad and me at the Dallas Market Hall gun show. It was possibly the largest show I have ever seen there. There was lots of good stuff although prices seem to have risen since the last show I attended. The one thing that there was a lot of was person to person transactions. That’s what I want to talk about.
There is a growing trend among politicians and the media who have bought into the idea that there is this mysterious “gun show loophole” that must be illegal, immoral and dangerous just because of the name, right? This term is misleading and strives to make a perfectly legal and normal practice sound shady and wrong.
As I walked the long trek from my car to the front door I saw several folks engaging in open, above board transactions to buy, sell or trade firearms. This is not illegal. You can do it any where, not just a gun show. There just happens to be more of them at gun shows because that is where lots of people with guns to sell or trade congregate. We could all get together in a town square and sell each other guns and there would be nothing illegal about it. Why all the fuss then?
As I walked, I looked at the massive number of cars that were clogging the parking lot. I know for a fact that these cars kill far more people every year than guns do. Yet no one is calling for a ban on person to person car sales. There is no movement to ban high capacity vehicles (buses) or “assault cars” favored by criminals to carry out their nefarious crimes (’87 chevapontacadibuicks).
Why then is there such a fear of person to person firearms sales. I think it is because it SCARES some people. You, yes I mean you reading this right now. You scare the pants off of some folks with your guns and your independent attitude. How is the government going to take care of us all if you go and take care of yourself? It’s just not fair.
So the next time I hear someone talking about the importance of closing the “gun show loophole” I’m going to give them a great big Teddy Roosevelt smile with lots of teeth and a crazy glint in my eye and ask “Hey, you wanna buy a gun?”

But...that's because the report he read was for crime stats for only 2007. In that short amount of time just about anything could have an affect on crime. So, yeah, guns in the hands of bad guys does probably equal crime. But, guns in the hands of good guys (law abiding citizens) usually means less crime. Like 31.3% less in nine years in Florida.
Go have a read and leave a comment or two, like I did. ;)
Mind you, I really like this guy's blog. He's got great ideas on the decriminalization of drugs, but he is Harvard educated and has a twinge of the libtard in him. But, he signed on as a cop for a while and seems to have a streak of self-reliance in him. But it does seem that he hasn't really had a deep look at gun rights in America and what they mean, especially in terms of crime.

Hypocrisy. It's amazing to me how someone can say that someone DESERVES something that happens to someone else. That Governor Palin DESERVED her privacy to be violated because she was "DUMB" is what my liberal friend "Diane" told me. So I asked whether a woman DESERVES to be raped because of what she's wearing??
The answer is obviously a resounding NO. I understand that ones privacy being violated and rape might seem very different. In fact, I'm sure in a lot of cases the pain and suffering are totally different. But Privacy can also be your stuff in your house or seeing you while you think you're in private. Case and point, there was a guy in Arkansas or some other state who kept sneaking into a woman's house ans stealing her underwear (bras/panties). When she found out, I'm sure she felt HORRIBLE. I'm sure she felt violated. It might have even kept her up at night for days, months or even years. I was burglarized in my home once, while I was there sleeping. I couldn't sleep for a year. I woke up every night. It haunted me. They broke in for my DVD collection. What's more is that when my drapes were open you could see the DVD collection through the window. But, did I DESERVE to be burlarized???
So, the principle is that being violated, in ANY way, is NEVER the victim's fault. So, I find it hard to believe, even moreso that I know she's a rape victim, that a woman would say that someone DESERVED any violation.
Nope - that isn't it, at least for me. Sorry - I swing a little bit more left than you! Palin is not for me and doesn't represent me as a women. I have nothing in common with her nor will I vote for her. Sorry - just being truthful.

First, how on earth do you know that's how they got into their accounts?

So, yesterday my truck was broken into at work. 14" Monkey wrench through the window. They threw it twice. The first time it hit the door and dented it all to hell. The second time it went through the passenger window and hit the inside of the driver window and came to rest on the floor of the driver side. They reached in and took my iPod and the Belkin FM transmitter that it was sitting in.
Cops were cool...Deputies. One was an FTO and the other a 16 year veteran just making it into patrol. He was pro CCW but when I mentioned his boss, Hutchens, and her position on CCW, he said, "well she's a citizen too". I responded, "well...she's sworn and can carry so she doesn't have to worry about it." He said, "OH yeah." like, oh yeah, you're right...and I didn't think about it that way.
Anyway, it was a shitty situation where the cops ended up being cool and that made it a little easier. I had to wait about 1 1/2 hours for the CSI girl to come take prints and photos... Nothing great on my truck but some good stuff on my co worker's car. the CSI tech also said that there was a chance that there'd be some "good DNA" on the monkey wrench. Let's hope so.

Sign up, put in your device serial, and that's it.k I don't know if it works...I guess I can test it on an old device. The site says that you can make it flash a message on the iPod like, "Please return to...". Check it out.

Abolishing the American Dream

Will this be the tipping point and the last straw for the taxpayers? Will we elect a Congress and a president who will get control of this spending addiction and reform the government? Or will we continue with more of the same irresponsible spending until our currency and our Constitution are nothing but worthless paper? There can be no "American dream" without a government that respects the Constitution.
We must vigorously resist a government which holds us accountable for the failures of others, just as we must adamantly resist a government that robs the public of money they earn to establish income equality for all. America is not a communist country, but it's looking more and more like it all the time. Individuals must take personal responsibility for their own lives, that is what freedom and liberty demand. Businesses must take responsibility for their own businesses and not expect the taxpayers to bail them out by mandates from the government.
William Ayers? Reverend Jeremiah 'God Damn America' Wright? Reverend 'Snuffy' Pfleger, the anti-gun activist who stated that a gun shop owner should be 'snuffed out?' Tony Rezko?

I'm Voting Democrat
I'm voting Democrat because I believe the Government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% is Ok.
I'm voting Democrat because the Legislature will soon pass a law that will outlaw Conservative Talk Show Hosts because Liberal (Progressive) Talk Show Hosts can never draw a large enough audience to stay on the air and it is unfair to have only the Conservative point of view. Isn't Free Speech Great !!
I'm voting Democrat because my thoughts are so firmly aligned with what the government can do for me, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

Sen. Barack Obama's wife and three close advisers have been involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don't have private insurance -- primarily poor, black people -- to other health care facilities.
Michelle Obama -- currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000-a-year job as a vice president of the prestigious hospital -- helped create the program, which aims to find neighborhood doctors for low-income people who were flooding the emergency room for basic treatment. Hospital officials say such patients hinder their ability to focus on more critically ill patients in need of specialized care, such as cancer treatment and organ transplants.
The Iraq Liberation Act: Passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by Bill Clinton in 1998, the Act stated, "It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq, and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime." This legislation passed the House by a vote of 360 to 38, and it passed the Senate without a single vote in opposition. Here's what Democrats were saying before the 2000 election of George W. Bush:

My fellow Americans:
As your future President I want to thank my supporters, for your
mindless support of me, despite my complete lack of any legislative
achievement, my pastor's relations with Louis Farrakhan and Libyan
dictator Moamar Quadafi, or my blatantly leftist voting record while I
present myself as some sort of bi-partisan agent of change.
I also like how my supporters claim my youthful drug use and criminal
behavior somehow qualifies me for the Presidency after 8 years of
claiming Bush's youthful drinking disqualifies him. Your hypocrisy is a
beacon of hope shining over a sea of political posing.
I would also like to thank the Kennedy's for coming out in support of
me. There's a lot of glamor behind the Kennedy name, even though JFK
started the Vietnam War, his brother Robert illegally wiretapped Martin
Luther King, Jr. and Teddy killed a female employee with whom he was
having an extra marital affair and who was pregnant with his child. And
I'm not going anywhere near the cousins, both literally and
figuratively. And I'd like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support.
Her love of meaningless empty platitudes will be the force that propels
me to the White House. Americans should vote for me, not because of my
lack of experience or achievement, but because I make people feel good.
Voting for me causes some white folk to feel relieved of their
imagined, racist guilt. I say things that sound meaningful, but don't
really mean anything because Americans are tired of things having
meaning. If things have meaning, then that means you have to think
about them. Americans are tired of thinking. It's time to shut down
the brain and open up the heart. So when you go to vote, remember don't

Here is just a tidbit. IT's a fairly long post...probably an 8-10 minute read. But it's good and worth the time.
So... Gun control doesn't work, yet they insist on pushing for more, more, more. One or more of several factors are in play here.
1. They thrive on ignorance. One need look no further than Carolyn McCarthy "answering" the question of what a barrel shroud is to see that they have no fucking clue what they're banning. What's the functional difference between three 10 round magazines and one 30 round magazine? Nothing. Not a fucking thing. Maybe 1-2 seconds, tops. Define a "Saturday Night Special".
2. They purposefully and routinely embellish, obfuscate, and otherwise outright lie their asses off every time their lips move. How many times were "assault weapon" and "machine gun" used interchangeably in the months preceding the 1994 ban? How many times has the completely bogus statistic of being "43 times more likely to be shot with your own gun" been used (and immediately debunked)? How many times do we have to find out that "children" killed by gunfire includes adults up to the age of 23 to make the statistics?
3. They appeal to emotion and feelings rather than logic. Put up a grieving mother whose son was gunned down in a gangland drive-by gone wrong, who could possibly argue against her impassioned cries to prevent another family from being devastated by gun violence? A police officer senselessly gunned down in a routinely traffic stop makes a sensational anchor for an assault weapons ban - never mind that it's about as statistically relevant as the police officers killed when their doors opened and the door-mounted seat-belt ejected them from the car...
Wow, and then another one... THis one falls right in line, too. I once, if you can believe it, sort of supported Obama.
Change Through Useless Legislation
This is a list of all of the wonderful legislation that Obamalama has proposed. Please note that the ones with ATS to the side are the ones that actually gained approval from the Senate. Also note that the majority, are IS which means they have not been approved by committee yet. If you take a look at the ones with ATS, I don't know about you, but I feel so much better about the security of our country and the effectiveness of our government. I know our country is a much better place now that the congress has decided to congratulate the Chicago White Sox on winning the 2005 World Series Championship. An even more accurate comment would have been that he was in Iraq while a war was going on. As he now recalled it, he and another senator were shaving inside a Green Zone building when a "shot" was fired outside that caused no danger to anyone inside. Indeed, Biden's staff later revised the revision to say that the "shot" had really been mortar fire "a few hundred yards away" which "rattled the building" where Biden was getting ready for the day.

This is absolutely ridiculous.
Prolific writer Peter Manso, author of, among other books, biographies of Norman Mailer and Marlon Brando, has been indicted on a dozen firearms charges by a Massachusetts grand jury and faces years in prison.
Did he brandish a gun in public? Threaten a neighbor with a drive-by shooting?
No, the guns were all stored, quite securely, in his locked and alarmed home. In fact, police discovered the weapons only when they responded to a burglar alarm while the writer was away. Either the guns were in plain view -- evidence that Manso expected no legal trouble for their possession -- or else, as Manso's attorney alleges, "Truro police searched Manso's house illegally while responding to the alarm." (The Times of London reports they were "in a cupboard.")

Many on the left will believe, quite mistakenly, that such an announcement is likely to weaken Palin’s support among “the hard-right conservative base”. But in fact, it will do no such thing — first, because the “hard-right conservative base” that liberal Democrats consistently invoke is largely a caricature that lives only in their minds and as a convenient trope in their rhetoric, from whence it can be trotted out as a foil and a boogeyman on cue; and second, because those energized over the choice of Palin include many disaffected libertarians and classical liberals who were, until the announcement of the Governor’s candidacy, set to either sit the election out, or else cast a protest vote for Bob Barr.
That the Palin family — by dint of ugly rumor mongering from “progressive activists” and a compliant left-leaning press that was cynically situating itself to pretend that these rumors “needed investigating” — was all but compelled to release information about their teenage daughter, is precisely the kind of thing that drives real civil libertarians and privacy advocates crazy, especially because the information has nothing whatever to do with Governor Palin’s candidacy, but instead invades the privacy (and quite possibly affects the “choice”) of a minor.
This kind of savage smear campaign by leftists and so-called “feminists” — a campaign that forced a young woman to make public a very private matter in order to stop vicious rumors about the Palin family — suggests that, when it comes to “privacy concerns” (NSA data mining for terrorists = bad; demanding the release of a Governor’s medical records = good; parental notification for abortions performed on women under a certain age = bad; insisting that the world be privy to the private sexual and family concerns of the seventeen-year-old daughter of a conservative = good), “progressives” care about such things only insofar as it protects their political interests and advances their political agenda.
The left, as it has now been shown in one of the ugliest incidences of McCarthyite bullying I can remember, has no core belief in privacy, or even an investment in actual “choice” for women — unless the woman in question falls in line with their particular orthodoxies, that is. Anyone else is an “anti-woman” woman, and as such is subject to public exposure and ridicule.
The ironic thing is, Bristol Palin’s political beliefs aren’t even known, beyond (I assume) her support for her mother. But hey: all is fair in love and war, and suddenly, the progressive left seems quite unconcerned with “collateral damage” and “the children!™
Hopefully, any real feminist — not the kinds of second wave “establishment feminists” who have eschewed the end game of equality for the politically charged power politics of identity group activism and grievance pimping — will be so appalled by what has transpired over the last several days that they will run screaming from the “enlightened” base of the Democratic party: totalitarian “progressives” who have devoured Alinsky like he was a particularly plump and inviting veggie burger.
They are what they pretend to despise. And in the quiet moments between attacks, I suspect many of them recognize this, and secretly curse what it is they’ve become.
