Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.
The events of the past week are no exception.
The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich. It's bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters."
That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we're being told it's unavoidable.
The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences - predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics - are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!
• The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700 billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time. That means $700 billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.
• Financial institutions are "designated as financial agents of the Government." This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.
• Then there's this: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be subject to no one in the process.
There goes your country.
Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this "sadly necessary." Sad, yes. Necessary? Don't make me laugh.
Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people. The two major party candidates for president themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of this kind - another example of the big choice we're supposedly presented with this November: yes or yes. Now, with a backlash brewing, they're not quite sure what their views are. A sad display, really.
Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short. Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow. With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it. Call them! Let them hear from you! Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.
The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom? Do we care about responsibility and accountability? Do we care that our government and media have been bought and paid for? Do we care that average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government? Do we care?
When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and the media?
Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are, and what kind of country we shall be.
My wife and I pay our mortgage. We can afford it for now. But, we're paying interest only. We've put about $70K into Indy Mac FEDERAL's pocket. Our home value is down about 50%. I just called Indy Mac FEDERAL to see if they'd help me. They said, "NO way bud, you can afford your mortgage". I asked why, when we're paying to support them in tax dollars on the back and interest on the front, they won't help us prevent a problem by calling up our ARM now, or lowering our principal, or SOMETHING.
So, since the banks are helping out people who don't pay their mortgages....should we just stop paying?
WHAT BENEFIT IS IT TO THE PEOPLE TO BAILOUT THESE COMPANIES????
Is the government in business to make profit? If not, then why do we have to pay interest on our loans now that they're owned by the federal government? Shouldn't the loans be at prime rate?

This last Saturday found my Dad and me at the Dallas Market Hall gun show. It was possibly the largest show I have ever seen there. There was lots of good stuff although prices seem to have risen since the last show I attended. The one thing that there was a lot of was person to person transactions. That’s what I want to talk about.
There is a growing trend among politicians and the media who have bought into the idea that there is this mysterious “gun show loophole” that must be illegal, immoral and dangerous just because of the name, right? This term is misleading and strives to make a perfectly legal and normal practice sound shady and wrong.
As I walked the long trek from my car to the front door I saw several folks engaging in open, above board transactions to buy, sell or trade firearms. This is not illegal. You can do it any where, not just a gun show. There just happens to be more of them at gun shows because that is where lots of people with guns to sell or trade congregate. We could all get together in a town square and sell each other guns and there would be nothing illegal about it. Why all the fuss then?
As I walked, I looked at the massive number of cars that were clogging the parking lot. I know for a fact that these cars kill far more people every year than guns do. Yet no one is calling for a ban on person to person car sales. There is no movement to ban high capacity vehicles (buses) or “assault cars” favored by criminals to carry out their nefarious crimes (’87 chevapontacadibuicks).
Why then is there such a fear of person to person firearms sales. I think it is because it SCARES some people. You, yes I mean you reading this right now. You scare the pants off of some folks with your guns and your independent attitude. How is the government going to take care of us all if you go and take care of yourself? It’s just not fair.
So the next time I hear someone talking about the importance of closing the “gun show loophole” I’m going to give them a great big Teddy Roosevelt smile with lots of teeth and a crazy glint in my eye and ask “Hey, you wanna buy a gun?”

But...that's because the report he read was for crime stats for only 2007. In that short amount of time just about anything could have an affect on crime. So, yeah, guns in the hands of bad guys does probably equal crime. But, guns in the hands of good guys (law abiding citizens) usually means less crime. Like 31.3% less in nine years in Florida.

Mind you, I really like this guy's blog. He's got great ideas on the decriminalization of drugs, but he is Harvard educated and has a twinge of the libtard in him. But, he signed on as a cop for a while and seems to have a streak of self-reliance in him. But it does seem that he hasn't really had a deep look at gun rights in America and what they mean, especially in terms of crime.

Hypocrisy. It's amazing to me how someone can say that someone DESERVES something that happens to someone else. That Governor Palin DESERVED her privacy to be violated because she was "DUMB" is what my liberal friend "Diane" told me. So I asked whether a woman DESERVES to be raped because of what she's wearing??
The answer is obviously a resounding NO. I understand that ones privacy being violated and rape might seem very different. In fact, I'm sure in a lot of cases the pain and suffering are totally different. But Privacy can also be your stuff in your house or seeing you while you think you're in private. Case and point, there was a guy in Arkansas or some other state who kept sneaking into a woman's house ans stealing her underwear (bras/panties). When she found out, I'm sure she felt HORRIBLE. I'm sure she felt violated. It might have even kept her up at night for days, months or even years. I was burglarized in my home once, while I was there sleeping. I couldn't sleep for a year. I woke up every night. It haunted me. They broke in for my DVD collection. What's more is that when my drapes were open you could see the DVD collection through the window. But, did I DESERVE to be burlarized???
So, the principle is that being violated, in ANY way, is NEVER the victim's fault. So, I find it hard to believe, even moreso that I know she's a rape victim, that a woman would say that someone DESERVED any violation.
Nope - that isn't it, at least for me. Sorry - I swing a little bit more left than you! Palin is not for me and doesn't represent me as a women. I have nothing in common with her nor will I vote for her. Sorry - just being truthful.

First, how on earth do you know that's how they got into their accounts?

How is a person's body any different than a person's privacy? I'd say it's about the same. Either way, you're being violated. That someone, anyone would do that is a violation of her privacy. So, yesterday my truck was broken into at work. 14" Monkey wrench through the window. They threw it twice. The first time it hit the door and dented it all to hell. The second time it went through the passenger window and hit the inside of the driver window and came to rest on the floor of the driver side. They reached in and took my iPod and the Belkin FM transmitter that it was sitting in.
Cops were cool...Deputies. One was an FTO and the other a 16 year veteran just making it into patrol. He was pro CCW but when I mentioned his boss, Hutchens, and her position on CCW, he said, "well she's a citizen too". I responded, "well...she's sworn and can carry so she doesn't have to worry about it." He said, "OH yeah." like, oh yeah, you're right...and I didn't think about it that way.
Anyway, it was a shitty situation where the cops ended up being cool and that made it a little easier. I had to wait about 1 1/2 hours for the CSI girl to come take prints and photos... Nothing great on my truck but some good stuff on my co worker's car. the CSI tech also said that there was a chance that there'd be some "good DNA" on the monkey wrench. Let's hope so.

Sign up, put in your device serial, and that's it.k I don't know if it works...I guess I can test it on an old device. Abolishing the American Dream

Will this be the tipping point and the last straw for the taxpayers? Will we elect a Congress and a president who will get control of this spending addiction and reform the government? Or will we continue with more of the same irresponsible spending until our currency and our Constitution are nothing but worthless paper? There can be no "American dream" without a government that respects the Constitution.
We must vigorously resist a government which holds us accountable for the failures of others, just as we must adamantly resist a government that robs the public of money they earn to establish income equality for all. America is not a communist country, but it's looking more and more like it all the time. Individuals must take personal responsibility for their own lives, that is what freedom and liberty demand. Businesses must take responsibility for their own businesses and not expect the taxpayers to bail them out by mandates from the government.

And not only that, but note this stellar cast of supporters: Susan Sarandon, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, Rosie O'Donald, Spike Lee, Maureen Dowd, John Edwards, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Venezuelan Communist Dictator Hugo Chavez, terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, the Communist Party of America, and Muslim-terrorist front-group CAIR, among others.
Why would mainstream America want anyone in the White House who is supported by these groups and individuals?

I'm Voting Democrat
I'm voting Democrat because I believe the Government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

Sen. Barack Obama's wife and three close advisers have been involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don't have private insurance -- primarily poor, black people -- to other health care facilities.
Michelle Obama -- currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000-a-year job as a vice president of the prestigious hospital -- helped create the program, which aims to find neighborhood doctors for low-income people who were flooding the emergency room for basic treatment. Hospital officials say such patients hinder their ability to focus on more critically ill patients in need of specialized care, such as cancer treatment and organ transplants.
The Iraq Liberation Act: Passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by Bill Clinton in 1998, the Act stated, "It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq, and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime." This legislation passed the House by a vote of 360 to 38, and it passed the Senate without a single vote in opposition. Here's what Democrats were saying before the 2000 election of George W. Bush:

My fellow Americans:
As your future President I want to thank my supporters, for your
mindless support of me, despite my complete lack of any legislative
achievement, my pastor's relations with Louis Farrakhan and Libyan
dictator Moamar Quadafi, or my blatantly leftist voting record while I
present myself as some sort of bi-partisan agent of change.
I also like how my supporters claim my youthful drug use and criminal
behavior somehow qualifies me for the Presidency after 8 years of
claiming Bush's youthful drinking disqualifies him. Your hypocrisy is a
beacon of hope shining over a sea of political posing.
I would also like to thank the Kennedy's for coming out in support of
me. There's a lot of glamor behind the Kennedy name, even though JFK
started the Vietnam War, his brother Robert illegally wiretapped Martin
Luther King, Jr. and Teddy killed a female employee with whom he was
having an extra marital affair and who was pregnant with his child. And
I'm not going anywhere near the cousins, both literally and
figuratively. And I'd like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support.
Her love of meaningless empty platitudes will be the force that propels
me to the White House. Americans should vote for me, not because of my
lack of experience or achievement, but because I make people feel good.
Voting for me causes some white folk to feel relieved of their
imagined, racist guilt. I say things that sound meaningful, but don't
really mean anything because Americans are tired of things having
meaning. If things have meaning, then that means you have to think
about them. Americans are tired of thinking. It's time to shut down
the brain and open up the heart. So when you go to vote, remember don't

Here is just a tidbit. IT's a fairly long post...probably an 8-10 minute read. But it's good and worth the time.
So... Gun control doesn't work, yet they insist on pushing for more, more, more. One or more of several factors are in play here.
1. They thrive on ignorance. One need look no further than Carolyn McCarthy "answering" the question of what a barrel shroud is to see that they have no fucking clue what they're banning. What's the functional difference between three 10 round magazines and one 30 round magazine? Nothing. Not a fucking thing. Maybe 1-2 seconds, tops. Define a "Saturday Night Special".
2. They purposefully and routinely embellish, obfuscate, and otherwise outright lie their asses off every time their lips move. How many times were "assault weapon" and "machine gun" used interchangeably in the months preceding the 1994 ban? How many times has the completely bogus statistic of being "43 times more likely to be shot with your own gun" been used (and immediately debunked)? How many times do we have to find out that "children" killed by gunfire includes adults up to the age of 23 to make the statistics?
3. They appeal to emotion and feelings rather than logic. Put up a grieving mother whose son was gunned down in a gangland drive-by gone wrong, who could possibly argue against her impassioned cries to prevent another family from being devastated by gun violence? A police officer senselessly gunned down in a routinely traffic stop makes a sensational anchor for an assault weapons ban - never mind that it's about as statistically relevant as the police officers killed when their doors opened and the door-mounted seat-belt ejected them from the car...
Wow, and then another one... THis one falls right in line, too. I once, if you can believe it, sort of supported Obama.
Change Through Useless Legislation
This is a list of all of the wonderful legislation that Obamalama has proposed. Please note that the ones with ATS to the side are the ones that actually gained approval from the Senate. Also note that the majority, are IS which means they have not been approved by committee yet. If you take a look at the ones with ATS, I don't know about you, but I feel so much better about the security of our country and the effectiveness of our government. I know our country is a much better place now that the congress has decided to congratulate the Chicago White Sox on winning the 2005 World Series Championship. An even more accurate comment would have been that he was in Iraq while a war was going on. As he now recalled it, he and another senator were shaving inside a Green Zone building when a "shot" was fired outside that caused no danger to anyone inside. Indeed, Biden's staff later revised the revision to say that the "shot" had really been mortar fire "a few hundred yards away" which "rattled the building" where Biden was getting ready for the day.

This is absolutely ridiculous.
Prolific writer Peter Manso, author of, among other books, biographies of Norman Mailer and Marlon Brando, has been indicted on a dozen firearms charges by a Massachusetts grand jury and faces years in prison.
Did he brandish a gun in public? Threaten a neighbor with a drive-by shooting?
No, the guns were all stored, quite securely, in his locked and alarmed home. In fact, police discovered the weapons only when they responded to a burglar alarm while the writer was away. Either the guns were in plain view -- evidence that Manso expected no legal trouble for their possession -- or else, as Manso's attorney alleges, "Truro police searched Manso's house illegally while responding to the alarm." (The Times of London reports they were "in a cupboard.")

Many on the left will believe, quite mistakenly, that such an announcement is likely to weaken Palin’s support among “the hard-right conservative base”. But in fact, it will do no such thing — first, because the “hard-right conservative base” that liberal Democrats consistently invoke is largely a caricature that lives only in their minds and as a convenient trope in their rhetoric, from whence it can be trotted out as a foil and a boogeyman on cue; and second, because those energized over the choice of Palin include many disaffected libertarians and classical liberals who were, until the announcement of the Governor’s candidacy, set to either sit the election out, or else cast a protest vote for Bob Barr.
That the Palin family — by dint of ugly rumor mongering from “progressive activists” and a compliant left-leaning press that was cynically situating itself to pretend that these rumors “needed investigating” — was all but compelled to release information about their teenage daughter, is precisely the kind of thing that drives real civil libertarians and privacy advocates crazy, especially because the information has nothing whatever to do with Governor Palin’s candidacy, but instead invades the privacy (and quite possibly affects the “choice”) of a minor.
This kind of savage smear campaign by leftists and so-called “feminists” — a campaign that forced a young woman to make public a very private matter in order to stop vicious rumors about the Palin family — suggests that, when it comes to “privacy concerns” (NSA data mining for terrorists = bad; demanding the release of a Governor’s medical records = good; parental notification for abortions performed on women under a certain age = bad; insisting that the world be privy to the private sexual and family concerns of the seventeen-year-old daughter of a conservative = good), “progressives” care about such things only insofar as it protects their political interests and advances their political agenda.
The left, as it has now been shown in one of the ugliest incidences of McCarthyite bullying I can remember, has no core belief in privacy, or even an investment in actual “choice” for women — unless the woman in question falls in line with their particular orthodoxies, that is. Anyone else is an “anti-woman” woman, and as such is subject to public exposure and ridicule.
The ironic thing is, Bristol Palin’s political beliefs aren’t even known, beyond (I assume) her support for her mother. But hey: all is fair in love and war, and suddenly, the progressive left seems quite unconcerned with “collateral damage” and “the children!™
Hopefully, any real feminist — not the kinds of second wave “establishment feminists” who have eschewed the end game of equality for the politically charged power politics of identity group activism and grievance pimping — will be so appalled by what has transpired over the last several days that they will run screaming from the “enlightened” base of the Democratic party: totalitarian “progressives” who have devoured Alinsky like he was a particularly plump and inviting veggie burger.
They are what they pretend to despise. And in the quiet moments between attacks, I suspect many of them recognize this, and secretly curse what it is they’ve become.
